About This Label

ZTT Records (short for Zang Tumb Tuum) is a legendary British label founded in 1983 by producer Trevor Horn, industry executive Jill Sinclair, and journalist Paul Morley  . From the start, ZTT set itself apart by treating music as conceptual art, turning choreography, sleeve art, and music videos into creative statements that blurred the line between pop and performance.
ZTT’s early signings read like a hall of fame: Frankie Goes to Hollywood (whose shockwaves through Relax and Two Tribes cemented ZTT’s impact), along with forward-thinkers like Art of Noise, Grace Jones, Seal, 808 State, Propaganda, All Saints, Lisa Stansfield, and more.
At its creative core, ZTT separated itself through bold marketing: multiple versions of remixes charted independently, shirts became statement pieces, and every release felt like a media event  . Its “Action” and “Incidental” series blurred the lines between art and commerce, pushing remix culture into the mainstream.
