2023 In Review
We’re really excited to share everything Four on Four has been working on over the past couple of years. Since it’s been a while since our last State of Four on Four update, this is a great moment to highlight recent accomplishments and where we’re headed next.
To start, 2023 marked the introduction of official channels across the Four on Four brand—each one reflecting a distinct genre led by our resident DJ, Alexander. We launched the Systematik channel for epic trance, Amp.FM for EDM, and Rust for our long-standing lounge mixes. We also renamed our future house content to Brise & Soleil, giving it a more tropical house direction. Lastly, we introduced Bloom, a progressive trance channel, expanding our sonic diversity even further.
DJ Alexander remains at the heart of these efforts, continuing to create high-quality mixes tailored to each channel’s unique sound.
In terms of branding, we updated the Four on Four logo and refreshed the overall look and feel of our website and DJ intros to reflect this evolution. Content was also standardized across the board—from intros and mix covers to article imagery and carousel slides. These changes were made to reduce the time and creative effort needed for maintenance, while also streamlining our processes behind the scenes.
We expanded our social media presence by launching new channels on YouTube and TikTok. These platforms are now being used to support one of our most exciting new features: live DJ streams. We’re actively refining the presentation and format for these, and both YouTube and TikTok will serve as permanent homes for the recordings.
As a milestone, we’re proud to share that we’ve surpassed 500 followers on Mixcloud. Thank you to everyone in our growing fan community for your continued support.
Looking Ahead to 2024
We’re continuing to build momentum with live DJ streams hosted on Mixcloud and archived on both our YouTube channel and official website. Alongside these, we’re launching a new series called Transitions, which spotlights some of DJ Alexander’s standout transitions from his live sets. These will be available on our TikTok channel in short video format.
Our Track of the Week series, which has been on pause for a few months, is set to return this April. It will feature a single track each week with a detailed review. If any of the featured tracks appear in live streams, they’ll be flagged as part of the stream’s commentary and tracklist on YouTube.
FOF Essentials will continue unchanged. It remains a core part of our identity and will also be highlighted within live mix recordings when relevant.
We’re introducing new website sections to spotlight upcoming music festivals, DJ concerts, and notable clubs from around the world—helping connect our listeners to the broader global scene.
On the channels front, we’re launching Fabric, a new home for house music, and expanding Fishmouth to focus on progressive house content. These new channels will help deepen our genre representation and give fans more curated experiences.
We’re also making updates to the website’s interface to enhance readability and navigation. Expect larger visuals, clearer text, and improved labeling to help simplify your browsing experience. We’re also decluttering the interface by removing outdated or unnecessary content.
In terms of functionality, we plan to extend our advanced search to allow individual filtering by BPM, harmonic key, and genre—improving on the current system that requires all parameters to be used together. Another feature under consideration is scheduled content publishing. This would let us prepare articles, mixes, and updates in advance and release them automatically in sync with calendar events, making our publishing more consistent and timely.
In Summary
With these updates in motion, we’re excited to bring you another year of fresh mixes, new channels, and deeper engagement with the electronic music world. From DJ Alexander and everyone at the Four on Four studio—thank you for being part of the journey.
