About The Mix
Four on Four is proud to launch the first exclusive mix of 2018, curated and produced by our resident artist, DJ Alexander. This mix, titled Shikodachi, is more than just a musical compilation—it marks a return to core artistic principles and sets the tone for the year ahead.
The title Shikodachi draws inspiration from the world of martial arts. Commonly referred to as the “open stance” or “horse stance,” it is a foundational position in traditional karate styles such as Goju Ryu, Shito Ryu, and Uechi Ryu. Known for its strength and grounded form, Shikodachi often follows another powerful stance, Kibadachi, making it a fitting metaphor for the continuity and structure behind this new series of mixes.
Shikodachi is the first in a two-part EDM series, to be followed later in the year by its companion mix, Kibadachi. These names are intentional and symbolic, chosen to reflect not just a theme but a mindset—rooted in strength, energy, and precision. The music within these sets reflects that same spirit.
With Shikodachi, DJ Alexander reaffirms his commitment to carefully curated, theme-driven mixes. Each track in this release was hand-selected and sequenced to create a cohesive and compelling listening experience. This is not simply a collection of favorite songs—it’s the result of a deliberate and thoughtful process that prioritizes quality, continuity, and emotional impact.
This mix also signals the renewal of DJ Alexander’s creative efforts for 2018, grounded in the philosophy that great mixes take time—time to discover the right sound, build momentum, and create a journey worth taking. The result is a mix that delivers not only musical excellence, but artistic intention.
As we look ahead to an exciting year for Four on Four, Shikodachi stands as a bold and intentional start. We look forward to sharing more exclusive mixes, new features, and creative content in the months to come.
