Martin Solveig Retires From The Stage
French DJ and producer Martin Solveig has officially announced his retirement from live DJ performances, ending a celebrated run that spanned more than three decades. The announcement came during his set at Les Vieilles Charrues festival on July 19, 2025, where he paused mid-performance to tell the crowd, “All my life, each time I came onstage I told myself: ‘Play like it’s your last concert.’ Just until that moment arrives.” It was a heartfelt and unscripted moment in front of nearly 70,000 fans.
The following day, Solveig confirmed the news on Instagram with the caption, “To new beginnings… I’m leaving the stage with a full heart, stepping aside for the next generation… Music is my life — and always will be.” The post drew support and emotional messages from fellow artists and fans around the world.
Solveig’s career began in the early 1990s and took flight in the 2000s with a string of melodic house records. His biggest hit, “Hello” with Dragonette, became a global anthem, and tracks like “Intoxicated” and “+1” kept him on the charts for years. He worked with artists like Madonna, David Guetta, Jax Jones, and Laidback Luke, and remained a steady presence at festivals like Tomorrowland and Ultra, always delivering high-energy sets and playful crowd interactions.
The Les Vieilles Charrues appearance was his only show in 2025 and now stands as his final performance. The festival’s director called it “an immense honour” to host the send-off. Fans in the crowd cheered and danced with intensity, fully aware they were part of a historic farewell.
Although his time behind the decks is over, Solveig has no plans to leave the music world. He intends to continue producing, mentoring, and collaborating. His final message to fans was one of gratitude and transition—not an end, but a new phase.
