DJ Alexander returns with Rust 2, the second installment in his lounge series—and once again delivers a richly textured, slow-burning set that leans into warm basslines, deep rhythms, and a dusk-lit atmosphere. Where Rust 1 introduced his lounge sensibilities, Rust 2 expands the palette with a deeper, more rhythmic focus, adding touches of funk, jazz, and Balearic soul.
The mix opens with New York Dreamer (Alix Alvarez Remix) by Shlomi Aber, a smoky, groove-forward track that sets a sophisticated tone. From there, the flow deepens with Night Fall and Sunset Avenue by HouseRiders, whose back-to-back placement creates a perfect one-two punch of lush pads and gentle percussion. Around the halfway mark, Jive (Soul Minority Jumeirah Beach Club Mix) by K-Bana offers one of the mix’s standout moments—warm, jazzy, and full of coastal charm.
Rust 2 maintains its balance with careful pacing, giving space for quieter tracks like Blue Summer Night by The Messenger and Expressing Emotions (Bobby Deep Chillout Mix) by Masterpiece to breathe. Toward the end, Collaps by Marvin Zeyss provides a darker, late-night pivot before Solstice by Architekt closes the mix on a crisp, reflective note.
Rust 2 feels lived-in, refined, and remarkably cohesive. DJ Alexander continues to show a sharp ear for blending emotion with rhythm, offering a lounge mix that drifts with purpose and lands with style.
