About The DJ

From conservative Bavarian beginnings to the heart of Berlin’s techno vanguard, Patrick Mason embodies transformation. Born to an African-American GI father and a Bavarian mother near Munich, he grew up suppressing his true self—closeted, creative, and yearning for expression. His move to Berlin in 2011 was a turning point: a city that allowed him to break free, not only as an artist but as himself.
Mentored by Matthew “Radio Slave” Edwards, Mason transitioned from graphic design and fashion into music, co-founding the hybrid live duo SRVD. Their debut EP Elevate dropped on Rekids in 2022, premiering live at the Berghain Panorama Bar—complete with Mason on the mic—cementing his reputation as a boundary‑pushing performer.
Mason’s rise accelerated during the COVID lockdowns: his living room livestreams evolved into festival headlines at Awakenings, Circo Loco, Time Warp, Tomorrowland, DC-10, Fuse, Printworks, and beyond. Resident Advisor featured him in their Exchange series, spotlighting his journey from repressive Bavaria to clubland icon, addressing themes of self-acceptance, trauma, gatekeeping, queer identity, and mental health.
His performances blur genres and disciplines—techno, house, vogue‑style dancing, live vocals, and fashion—redefining what DJing can be. He often breaks form, dancing atop the booth, voguing mid-set, and commanding attention as performer, not just selector.
As a model and creative director, Mason has worked with brands like Ray-Ban—where he designed the State Street frame launch—Maison Margiela, Trippen, and Zalando × Filling Pieces. His aesthetic is fearless, gender‑fluid, and unapologetically bold, challenging norms and turning fashion into performance.
Mason also uses his platform to amplify queer and trans voices. He actively resists gatekeeping: “techno has no rules… I take what I’ve learned and fuck that shit up.” He often books trans and queer artists, lifting voices historically marginalized in club culture.
In 2025, Patrick Mason continues to tear through global club lineups—his panoramic performances at Berghain, SRVD gigs, festival slots, and artistic collaborations all push the envelope. His story is more than a DJ highlight—it’s a narrative of transformation: from hidden to celebrated, from rule-bound to freed-up, from club kid to culture shaper.
Patrick Mason isn’t just wild at heart. He’s wild at art, identity, and performance—rewriting the DNA of what it means to DJ in 2025.
