Airscape is a celebrated trance project originally brought to life in the late 1990s by Johan Gielen alongside Sven Maes. Together, they crafted standout productions like “L’Esperanza” and “The Beauty of Silence,” and delivered iconic remixes for Delerium’s “Silence,” Tiësto’s “Sparkles,” Safri Duo’s “Played-A-Live,” among others.
After Sven Maes departed in 2005, Johan Gielen revived Airscape as a solo endeavor in 2009. This rebirth allowed him to continue the project’s legacy with fresh singles such as “My Love” (featuring JES), “Endless Forever,” “Welcome Home,” and “Beautiful Tomorrow.” Airscape has since evolved, blending trance, progressive, and techno elements while retaining its emotionally uplifting core.
The alias remains a beloved brand in trance, featured in series like In Search of Sunrise 20, where Airscape’s Balearic-tinged tracks like “Piano Del Sol” delivered deeply atmospheric moments with modern energy. Johan continues to produce and perform as Airscape, honoring the project’s storied history while pushing it forward in the evolving trance landscape.
